In a business forever changed by the advent of inexpensive computer recording and home studios, Sea Note is known for its impressive collection of equipment and an engineering staff that is unrivaled in this region. It's no secret that Sea Note is the only area studio that produces projects that are heard nationally and internationally. Our client roster now includes well known acts and labels such as Universal Records, Sony, Dreamworks, Blue Rose, National Public Radio, The Gatlin Brothers, Jolene, Echo 7, Grace Cathedral Park, Bottom of the Hudson, The Alabama Theater, Legends In Concert, The Palace Theatre, Radio City Productions, Speedvision and many, many more. Owners Rob Gainer and Seth Funderburk have designed a facility that truly raises the bar for recording studios in this area. Whether you're looking for a place to record an album project, a commercial jingle, track drums for your home based recording, duplicate your latest album, or just create a simple demo, look no further than Sea Note. And here's why:

Equipment Selection

Sea Note Recording is a traditional recording studio. We built the studio from the ground up with the intention of providing excellent acoustics and separation. The main studio features an MCI JH 500 series 36 channel mixing console that was meticulously restored by our staff in early 2001. This is the same console used to record hundreds of hits since the late seventies. These consoles are known for their headroom and fabulously warm and clear sound. (Newer, inexpensive consoles do not compare.) We also have a new Yamaha DM1000 digital console with full moving fader automation. Multitracking is currently done to Digidesign Pro Tools and Otari Radar II, a 24 track professional hard disc recorder that has become the standard stand-alone multitrack machine in major studios across the country. Sea Note has an impressive collection of outboard gear as well - effects by Eventide, Yamaha, T.C. Electronics, Lexicon, and compression/ dynamics by API, UREI, DBX, Joe Meek, Oram, Demeter, and others. Our microphone collection features over 60 microphones by AKG, RCA, Telefunken, Beyer, Shure, Crown, EV, Audio Technica and Oktava. Sea Note is also building an impressive collection of musical instruments and accessories: In our current stock are modern keyboards by Korg, Roland, Kurzweil, Yamaha, and EMU. A concert grand is available for rental. Guitar amplifiers include a vintage Fender Twin, a Roland JC-120, a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo, a Fender Hot Rod Deville, and both 50 and 100 watt Marshall JCM-900 heads with 4 X 12 cabinets. Our percussion collection includes LP Congas, bongos, and more than 20 percussion "toys". The studio also has on-site a Pearl Masters Custom 5 piece drum kit.

Our editing suite, which is separate from our main room, features computer based editing and multitracking for jingles, music production, and editing/assembly. To keep up with the numerous computer multitracking software available, we use two of the most popular formats: Adobe Audition and Digidesign Pro Tools LE. We use high-end AD converters to assure that no sound quality is lost in the transition to the digital domain. High quality CD duplication with the area's only on-disc printing service is available for quick turnaround with custom design available as well.

Engineering Staff

While most local studios are single-person operations, Sea Note has a staff of 5 in-house engineers and a host of producers that are using the facility for a variety of projects. Our engineers have done many projects in major recording studios and have several major label releases on their resumes. Whether it's rock, country, rap, gospel, jazz, dance, classical, beach, vocal, etc, one of our engineers are experienced in your style of music. Our commitment to preserving both sound quality and artist performance is second to none in this area. Outside producers have also discovered Sea Note as well: Because of our facility, staff, and equipment, albums for international, national, and regional release have been (or are now being) recorded and/or mixed here in Myrtle Beach.

Reasonable Rates

Our goal is to provide high quality recording at prices that musicians can afford. While we're not a budget studio with budget rates, our prices are very good for the equipment, staff, and facility that is provided. We have several rate plans available from a basic hourly rate to daily and weekly block rates. We can also customize a plan to suit your project as well, and that can even include accommodations booking. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
